Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which interested adults are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic Faith and way of life. The process is a series of carefully planned stages, marked by liturgical rites in the presence of the whole community, in which new Catholics embark on and join us in a continuing and deepening conversion into faith and discipleship. Each Sunday, the group meets to break open the Scripture readings after having heard them proclaimed at Mass. The teachings and traditions of the Cathoilic Faith are explored in relationship to Scripture. The session closes with a challenge to live the Word and teachings that the group has just discussed. The highpoint of the process is the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. The process concludes with a period of mystagogy when the neophytes become rooted in the life of the church.
