Liturgical Music Ministry has been an important part of the worship tradition at Immaculate Conception Parish for many years. Various instruments ranging from pump organ to theater organ, Hammond to Pipe organ have served the parish over the years, each in it’s own, unique way. The newest instrument, a 3 manual, 72 Rank Walker Digital Organ with Moeller Pipe Work was purchased in the summer of 2007. At that time, the church made an important investment to continue to uphold the value of music in worship. The previous Moeller Pipe Organ, which had served the parish faithfully for numerous years, was in need of major overhaul and repair. A newer addition to the churches worship space had given more area for the small instrument to fill. After careful consideration, Nathan Bellas, music director at the time, and Fr. John Moineau, pastor, determined it to be in the best interest of the parish to purchase the Walker Organ from Al Sterner. The custom casework was designed by parishioner John Drabisin with direction from Al Sterner and the Walker Technicians. In May 2010, the final stage of the project will be completed. This will entail utilizing some of the pipework of the previous Moeller instrument as well as some final modifications to the specification. Following the completion of the project, which is anticipated for late May or early June, several recitals and concerts will be held to dedicate and celebrate the instrument.
